The Author
My name is Cameron Moore, hence the title of this blog. I started this blog at the age of 29, being about 30 pounds overweight. I’m married and have two young boys. I work in the IT field as a System Administrator, so I spend a good portion of my day behind a desk. Prior to running as described below, the last time I worked out was as a freshman in college, which comes out to about 10 years of relative inactivity (unless you consider yard work an exercise program). I was very active in sports growing up and was in pretty good shape back then. That’s all ancient history, but hopefully my muscles haven’t completely deteriorated.
The Running
I basically started running on a dare (think “positive peer pressure”). It was around Sept. 5, 2007. A co-worker came in with entry forms for a Half-Marathon (13.1 mi) that was less than 8 weeks away. I laughed at first, but I was curious if I could pull it off. This blog chronicles my journey from the couch to the route.
The Goal
I started this blog hoping to provide anyone who will read it with the kind of positive peer pressure I needed to get started running. I hope you will be encouraged, challenged, and spurred on to getting off the couch and hitting the street.
